Here’s a roundup of festive tips for forward-thinking marketers from our own Julie Ávila.

Speaking of the holidays – are you feeling generous? If you are, we’d like to ask that you consider giving us our gift early this year. We’ve been nominated for Affiliate Summit’s Best Affiliate Marketing Blog contest – and we’d love to have your vote. If you’ve enjoyed the Affiliate Marketing Digest – and if you find it informative and helpful – lend us your support. You can vote here. Note: You must have a Twitter account in order to vote.

You know what the holidays are really about? For retailers – it’s customers customers customers! Is your customer experience as awesome as it should be? We go inside the workings of one company that’s getting this right – and we’re pleased to say it’s one of our clients – Paper Style!

We’re also pleased to hear that the PMA has just announced its new additions to the Board of Directors. Congratulations to Todd Crawford (Impact Radius), Michael Jones (eBay Enterprise Network), Tricia Meyer(Sunshine Rewards), Tony Pantano (Imwave) and Lisa Picarille (LisaPicarille.com)

One last item and then we’ll let you get back to the holiday work. We all know Pinterest has marketing value for brands – and a new study sheds some light on the true nature of that value. According to the study, one Pinterest pin is worth two site visits, six page views and 78 cents

2013: A Holiday Season Like No Other

Author : Tom Rathbone

Call it a perfect storm. Or a series of coincidences. But there’s no denying that 2013 is poised to be a holiday season like no other.

First, consider the fact that Hannukah starts on Thanksgiving Day this year – something that hasn’t happened since the 1800s. By the way – it won’t happen again for thousands of years. This means all of those Hannukah gifts are being sought right now.

Then, consider that Thanksgiving takes place the last Thursday of November instead of the third. That pushes back the holiday shopping surge. It also means there are only 26 days between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Last year there were 32 days.

Black Friday mania is later in the calendar this year – but it will really start early. Large retailers like Walmart and Newegg have already started to highlight promotions and holiday deals online and several retailers plan to be open on Thanksgiving Day rather than opening early Friday for the usual Black Friday shopping extravaganza.

Cyber Monday is pushed to early December – but never fear. There are two Cyber Mondays (Dec. 2 and Dec. 9) – to be followed by Free Shipping Day (Dec. 18).

For all of these reasons (and more), the 2013 holiday season is expected to be a holiday like no other.

Schaaf-PartnerCentric offers our 2013 Holiday Guide that outlines all of these key dates of the coming season.
The holidays are a time of caring and sharing – so please do feel free pass this along to others.

Happy Holidays to you!

Welcome to Friday and another edition of Affiliate Marketing Digest. Our lead story this week is a new Nielsen survey that says of those who research products via smartphone, the majority (82%) buy in-store while 45% buy online.  In a related item, mobile shopping is turning Thanksgiving Day into a prime holiday shopping day.

It’s Q4 – or as we have taken to calling it – the New Year Prediction Thunderdome. In the coming weeks everyone will be offering their thoughts on the hottest trends to come in 2014 – but this week Affiliate Window got a head start on the soothsaying.

The PMA has announced its list of candidates for the 2014 Board of Directors. Schaaf-PartnerCentric has long been a supporter of the PMA and its critical role as advocate for the industry – and we look forward to the work they’re planning for the new year. We’re happy to be a part of it. Several of our team members serve on the various PMA Member Groups.   If you’re not currently a member, consider joining the PMA today. Your industry needs you!

CJ has just shared videos of all sessions and keynotes from CJU 2013. If you missed the conference or need a recap, you may view all of the videos online now.

Several of our clients have good news to share this week. Stamps.com is featured in a story about the survival of Web 1.0 companies, and Joss & Main just concluded a photo shoot with celebrity Nicole Ritchie.  We’d also like to welcome our newest client, Domain.com.

We’ve got a few thought pieces that will help you evaluate your current social media campaigns, including an infographic that compares the effectiveness of social media vs. email and a new report that compares the value of Facebook vs Twitter ads.
