2016 is coming to a close and we can’t help feeling so blessed and thankful as we look back at our best year yet! This phenomenal year was Schaaf-PartnerCentric’s 10th year in business; a year of new adventures, milestones, and building meaningful relationships! If you’ve ever met anybody from our team in person, you can probably tell that the Schaaf-PartnerCentric team is one big, happy family. How long have you worked at SPC? Over 10 years!!!!
What do you value most about Schaaf-PartnerCentric? The culture — the people I get to work with every day make me laugh, make me push myself, make me smarter, make me proud to call them my teammates. During our best and worst days, how we work and who we are, are what I value most.
What is your favorite thing about the industry? That it’s all about relationships. At the end of the day, this is a channel that relies on meaningful connections. The success lies in the affiliates you know and trust, the clients you represent and promote, and the partners you lean on for strategy, innovation, and new technology. When it all comes together, you’re bringing new customers and increased ROI to the table in a very real and measurable way. It’s a great way to spend the day.
What are you most proud of SPC for? We have been in business for over ten years, and many of the clients I first started managing all those years ago are STILL clients today. We enjoy long standing partnerships that have grown and evolved over time, and it’s amazing to see the progress of the work we have done together.
Is there anything else you want readers to know about you?I am having my 4th baby in a few weeks, and all have been born during my time at SPC. This is a special place that allows people to grow and expand both professionally and personally. I’ve been afforded a work/life balance I wouldn’t trade for the world, and it would not be possible if not for the supportive, family-friendly, flexible company we have. Thank you SPC!

How long have you worked at SPC? 42 months!
What do you value most about Schaaf-PartnerCentric? The fact that everyone here is in it together. In my past life, I’ve worked at several different companies but have never experienced a culture like this…where everyone is truly willing help each other out and looking out for the best interest of the company. This company is full of smart, hard working individuals but what makes them so unique to me, is that this team also has a strong “ownership mentality” and they’re always looking for new ways to grow the business. I also value the fact that even though we are a 100% virtual workforce, we find a way to support each other personally or professionally every day.
What is your favorite thing about the industry? I love that I never know what’s next. Things are evolving very quickly in the space which opens up countless numbers of opportunities for our organization and the programs we manage. I also love the relationships I’ve developed over the years with our partners. I can always count on good catch up sessions when attending conferences!
What are you most proud of SPC for? I can go on and on and on here but if I had to narrow it down to 2 things, I’d say that (1) I’m proud of SPC for not being afraid to try new things and (2) proud of the amount of integrity we bring to work every day.
Is there anything else you want readers to know about you? (This can be either personal or professional!) Hm… I am pretty much an open book. Let’s see…I am scared of heights but I loved skydiving, I love anything spicy, I have a natural unibrow, I speak 2.5 languages (and would like to learn 2 more), my kids are my favorite people to be around and I probably curse too much. I also really, really love a good joke/prank so if you have one to share please hit me up!
What are your new years resolutions? My new years resolutions are to read one professional/leadership related book per month, to travel with my family to somewhere new in the world, nail down 2 new yoga inversion poses and, most important of all, to laugh every day.

Our very own Tom Rathbone, Head of Technology, will be representing Schaaf-PartnerCentric on the board. SPC has a long history of being involved with the PMA board and we are thrilled to be serving alongside such innovative, reputable industry leaders.
“I’m excited to bring our expertise to the PMA to help advance the industry. I will be working alongside some very talented folks and I think our mix of backgrounds and expertise will make this a productive year,” says Tom.

One constant always true for an affiliate program is the goal to differentiate from its competitors. We can do this through payouts, product offerings, publisher communication and the tools available to those publishers. What I’d like to focus on in this article is one of the most important tools we can provide our publishers: the creative they use to put our products and services in front of the customer.
Updating the main creative of a program is often overlooked and can lead to a poor representation of your company’s brand as well as the products you are trying to sell. Not only that, but this area is a ripe opportunity for you to interact with and convince your publishers that your program is worth running. Publishers want to know that you are just as invested in the affiliate model as much as they are, if creative is updated on a consistent basis this will assure publishers that you are invested. Giving publishers access to a strong creative arsenal can increase a programs performance on two fronts, with both conversion and activity.
Putting new creative in the hands of your publishers is just one aspect of developing a strong creative footprint. Before supplying new banners or text links, they should be tested on your own campaigns in various channels. This way you can tell publishers with confidence that they have the best creative for their type of marketing and what kind of conversion to expect. Available data on performance allows publishers to push out budget for campaigns quicker and get your program in front of more eyeballs.
Recently, one of my clients, Allianz Global Assistance, conducted a publisher survey where we found that publishers felt having strong creative assets was just as important has having a strong product offering. With this information in hand we took a look at our creative library and worked on creating a piece of creative that would be worthwhile for publishers to take notice of and incorporate into their marketing channels growing both their commissions and our revenue. This new creative was a quote widget as seen below:
A creative tool such as this widget brings the consumers one step closer to the publisher and reduces the chance of losing them once they make it over to the merchant’s site.
As mentioned, there are many ways to separate your program from the herd. Building out a creative library and keeping it relevant and useful is one of the more cost effective ways of creating more activity in your program. Not only will your publishers appreciate the time and effort you put towards your brand image in their tools, but the testing you do to make sure that creative work will also help your other channels be more profitable.
