Infographic: Valentine’s Day E-Commerce Outlook

Sure – we all love Valentine’s Day. For affiliate marketers, this is one of the first online shopping events (cynics call it a pseudo-holiday) of the year.

There’s plenty to be excited about this year. Here’s our infographic showing what lies in store for retailers and e-tailers this Valentine’s Day.

Retail spending in the U.S. is expected to hit $17.3 billion for the Valentine’s Day holiday, according to the National Retail Federation.

The average U.S. consumer is expected to spend $133.91 on Valentine’s Day gifts this year. That’s up 2.2% from last year.

Here’s the rub: the percentage of consumers who plan to shop online for Valentine’s gifts has dipped slightly YOY. This year 26.1% of consumers are planning to hit the online stores compared to 26.3% in 2012.
