Nothing Says Holiday Lovin’ Like Cookies in the Oven

Schaaf-PartnerCentric is a virtual company. We have a team that’s based at our headquarters in Austin, Texas – but most of our team members work from home in places like Los Angeles, Portland, Chicago, Philadelphia, Raleigh and Brooklyn.

We see each other face-to-face through the course of attending industry events and trade shows, but as the holidays approach we like to find ways to bring everyone together in some kind of shared experience. This year we did so with a good old fashioned cookie exchange. cookies1cookies2

But we mixed it up a bit. So close to the holidays, we realized that members of the team might not have time to bake cookies and send them out – so we hired a baker to do the heavy lifting for us. Personal chef, baker and caterer Tammi Korbmaker gladly took on the assignment. Each member of the team submitted one cookie recipe to Tammi, who then worked her cookie-making magic.

The list of cookies recipes was long and featured a wide range of cookies – from the popular chocolate chip cookie to more exotic fare like Saltine Toffee Cookies, Paleo Cacao Nib Cookies and Peanut Butter and Chocolate Bark.

Some of the recipes proved more challenging than others.

“The most challenging was definitely Jarum’s peanut butter bark, which wasn’t really a cookie in a traditional sense, but more of a confection. First challenge: Where to find candy corn in December?  Four stores later …. I had no idea what to expect as I can’t say that I ever melted down three pounds of candy corn before. The safety cone orange,  melted ‘corn’ seized up when the peanut butter was added, making blending a challenge.”

Her favorite cookie to make was the Almond Blueberry Cookie recipe submitted by marketing analyst Nick Montrose.

“I loved the flavor combination of lemon, almond and blueberry, and they baked up beautifully.  I also loved doing Tessa’s Saltine Toffee, another unusual confection-type cookie; easy, fun and sooo full of buttah!”

Samples of all the cookies are now on the way to members of the team. Amid the fun of finding a recipe – and now anticipating the baked goodness – our team has found an enjoyable way of coming together for the holiday season.

Happy Holidays from all of us at Schaaf-PartnerCentric!
