Affiliate marketers mourn the loss of Steve Jobs – and it’s easy to understand why.
In our world, which seeks every day to combine the possibility of innovation with the power of technology, Steve Jobs loomed larger than life as an example of how to do both of these things – and do them right.
His was a consistent ability to not only foresee but create the future by which so many of our businesses have flourished. Where would we be today without the miracles made possible by the mind of this man? And who among us did not marvel at the machines he made possible?
From those first little Apple MacIntosh computers – which gave so many of us our first introduction to the computerized world that was to come. We knew even then that we were on the cutting edge of something that was only going to get better with time. And get better it did.
The innovations never ceased – carrying us right through to the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad.
We all owe a great debt to this man whom in life we admired and whom in death we will always mourn.
For those of us in this industry – and really in any industry that values ideas and innovation – he will stand for all time as a shining example.
His success was in large part due to his understanding of what drives people – including himself – to succeed. As he told a group of Stanford graduates in 2005, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on.”
